Advancing Climate and Health Policy

We organized a multi-national team to identify opportunities to advance and integrate national climate and health policies in six countries/regions: Brazil, the Caribbean, Germany, Kenya, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Climate change causes profound health harms. Moreover, effective climate policies can create important health benefits, and climate-smart health policies can help limit climate change.

With funding from Wellcome Trust, we interviewed 225 leading policy stakeholders in six countries/regions: Brazil, the Caribbean, Germany, Kenya, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

We produced an insight report for each country/region plus an international synthesis report. These reports provide insights into the current state of climate and health policy integration, barriers to further integration, and opportunities and strategies to overcome these barriers.

This project has been a deeply meaningful collaboration, driven by a shared commitment to tackling the urgent, overlapping challenges of climate change and public health. We hope our findings offer valuable insights for diverse stakeholders working at this critical intersection.”
