We are pleased to announce the release of a new book, Glacial: The Inside Story of Climate Politicsauthored by Chelsea Henderson, director of editorial content at republicEn, a project of Mason 4C.

Glacial: The Inside Story of Climate Politics is the first Inside-the-Beltway account to lay bare the machinations of what went wrong in Washington—how and why our leaders failed to act on climate change as mounting scientific evidence underscored the urgency to do so.

Glacial tells a story of behind-the-scenes infighting and power struggles that blocked or derailed federal legislative progress on climate change, even in times of bipartisanship and with polls showing most Americans favored action.

Chelsea Henderson is republicEn’s director of editorial content. She hosts republicEn’s EcoRight Speaks podcast, and manages the EcoRight Leadership Council program. With nearly twenty-five years of experience striking bipartisan compromise on federal climate and environmental policy, Chelsea has worked on and off Capitol Hill with lawmakers, administration officials, and a broad array of stakeholders from industry to conservationists.

Chelsea served as senior policy advisor for retired Senator John Warner (R-Va.) during his effort to enact climate change legislation and served as professional staff to the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, her tenure spanning the chairmanships of the late Senator John H. Chafee (R-R.I.) and former Senator Bob Smith (R-N.H.).

You can purchase your copy of Glacial here. For media inquiries, please contact Mason 4C Associate Director, Dan Reed.
