Dr. Kristin Timm is a graduate of Mason’s Department of Communication, and a research affiliate at the Center for Climate Change Communication. She has spent over a decade as a science and environmental communication practitioner, most recently working with several climate change research programs at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Her research interests broadly include climate change reporting, the role of communication in climate change adaptation, climate change perceptions in Alaska and the Arctic, and the process of making science useful for decision making and resource management. Prior to attending George Mason University, Kristin studied rural development and natural resource management for her Bachelor’s degree and science communication for her Master’s degree — both at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Her Master’s thesis explored nature-based tour operators perceptions of climate change and associated information needs to respond to changing natural resources in Southeast Alaska.
