Richard Amoako is a Ph.D. student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Communication at George Mason University studying Health Communication. Richard’s research interest focuses on persuasive message design for strategic health campaigns. Specifically, Richard is interested in exploring how media message design for public and global health promotional campaigns employ the underlying impact of persuasion and other rhetorical appeals to promote effective health outcomes.
Prior to Mason, Richard Amoako worked in the media and communication industry in multiple capacities; both locally and internationally. Richard has worked as a Content Marketing Manager for Jumpstart Foundry — a healthcare investment company in Nashville TN. He has also worked as a Digital Content Strategist for the Media and Communication Department, and as a Graphic Designer with the marketing team for University Relations at East Tennessee State University.
Between 2014 and 2018, Richard worked as a Publisher, Social Media Strategist, and Creative Director for multiple brands in Ghana after his bachelor’s degree at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He has worked as a Digital Content Consultant where he led video production, advertising, and marketing campaigns for clients in the banking, hospitality, and healthcare industry.
Richard holds a master’s degree in Brand and Media Strategy from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee; and a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana.
