Thomas S. Bateman is Bank of America Eminent Scholar at the McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia. Tom’s field is organizational behavior, with particular expertise in leadership, proactive behavior, and motivation. In the past few years he has applied these interests to the domain of climate change. Current and recently-published papers address leadership and climate change, crossing boundaries in scientific research, long-term thinking and goal pursuit, and proactive goals and their pursuit. Tom coauthors Management: Leading & Collaborating in a Competitive World, a college textbook now in its twelfth edition (McGraw-Hill) and published in several languages. He teaches practicing managers on an ongoing basis, and is director of the multidisciplinary leadership minor at the University of Virginia.
